There's so much good content on Rumie, but finding the most relevant/helpful Bytes is not the easiest task if you don't have a specific topic in mind to search for. On that note, there are other canny requests being considered around the topic of Byte organization, namely having better organized categories and revamping the homepage layout.
The idea here is to have a collection of relevant Bytes (akin to action pages) that educators/learners can compile and share about a specific topic.
Byte collections can be compiled by
currently possible:
  • LDs (like in Ted by curators) - would thus require a Build feature as well
  • Rumie Staff - anyone interested could compile a collection
needs more research/other features:
  • potentially AI - still looking into this
  • Learners (like playlists, or like with https://degreed.com/ where users can set up learning paths) - this would be a future addition since we currently don't have user accounts. For reference, here's an eg. degreed pathway and here's a list of more user-generated pathways (needs a degreed account, basically a list of pathways to discover)
Applications
  • Shareable content
for authors and learners (and organizations); eg. here's how to apply to a job after a gap year, or how to address the top 10 behavioral interview questions, etc. They could be shared by friends in specific scenarios (eg. starting a new job, applying for college, etc). Could also help efforts w/ our reach to
    educators
, where they could share a collection of Bytes relevant to their class topic/life skills with their students
  • Content for a more
    editorial layout
for Learn's homepage (as w/ news sites, educational and magazine websites), having different areas of content addressing different interests, enhancing the Byte navigation and discovery experience
  • Could help with
    marketing
, for eg. sharing a collection of back-to-school Bytes put together by an influencer we had a coffee chat with
  • Could help scale
    retention
by having more portals to relevant content
  • Provide an infrastructure for accreditation down the line, should that ever be a goal on Learn;
but it doesn't need to have any credits atm
; many (paid) learning platforms (eg. masterclass, udemy, skillshare) do not offer certification/offers certificates w/ no academic credit value
  • Collections could also be later
    searchable
(eg.) offering another method to explore Bytes
  • I was recently talking w/ Kassie and also she mentioned that the idea of 'learning paths' could be helpful to the content team, as well as for our
    international projects
as well, in bundling up relevant content together
